When it comes to planning your extension, our all in one package means that if required, one of our architects will visit your home to complete a survey and produce a set of plans according to your wishes and feasibility of the space available.  Simply Extend can also help with structural calculations and dealing with building control as well as submitting your plans under permitted development or full planning.

Will my extension require planning permission?

Not all extensions require planning permission and most often can be carried out under permitted development as long as it fits into the following criteria:

  • A single storey rear extension must not extend beyond the rear wall of the original house by more than three metres for an attached house and four metres for a detached house.  This has more recently been increased to six metres and 8 metres respectively until the end of May 2016 under certain criteria.
  • The maximum height of a single storey extension is four metres
  • An extension of more than one floor must not extend beyond the original rear wall of the house by more than three metres
