The Simply Extend Guide To Rear Home Extensions

This week at Simply Extend, we’re taking a look at the popular rear extensions.  Rear home extensionsare typically used for extending a kitchen and dining area and sometimes  incorporate a separate living area and downstairs toilet.  When space is tight and lofts are already converted, kitchen extensions are a great way of extending a space for growing families.

Here at Simply Extend, we are quite often asked – up to what area can I extend to the rear of my property without needing planning permission?   Under current permitted development rights (no planning application required), a home can be extended as a single storey by up to 6 metres for an attached home and up to 8 metres for a detached property.  For a two storey extension, this is up to 3 metres.  This is a huge space, so its wise to understand what your budget is before extending up to the maximum space allowed.

Here are some examples of rear extensions Simply Extend have completed for clients all over London, including a two storey extension in Islington.  For further projects, why not take a look at our website.

If you are looking for further advice or you are not sure how to make the most of your downstairs space, then why not give us a call on 0800 917 7571 and organise for one of our friendly advisors to visit your home.
